Living Learning Communities and Themed Living Communities

The University of New England’s First Year Experience Living Learning Communities (LLCs) and Themed Living Communities (TLCs) provide an introductory leadership experience within the context of a residential setting.

提供给一年级新生, you will have the opportunity to move to campus early to participate in an off-campus retreat to develop a sense of community with other LLC/TLC members.

学生 interested in an LLC or TLC for Fall 2024 must go through one of the 夏季迎新会 2024年6月.

LLC students learn through a cohort style of learning by taking one or more linked courses together throughout the year. TLC students take advantage of theme-specific programming opportunities.

These communities are open to specific majors only.

The 健康的职业 Living Learning Community is an opportunity for first year students in the Westbrook College of 健康的职业 to fully explore their chosen career path, 培养成为领导者 in their field and successfully transition to the college environment. 健康的职业 LLC students will take at least two common courses over the year, receive additional support and mentoring from a collaborative team of faculty and professional staff, and engage in a variety of experiential learning opportunities.

海洋学习社区

合格的专业: 海洋科学, 海洋事务, or 海洋创业

The Marine Living Learning Community is an opportunity for 海洋科学, 海洋事务, and 海洋创业 majors to more fully explore their area of study, 培养成为领导者, and successfully transition to the college environment. Marine LLC students will take at least two common courses over the year, receive additional support and mentoring from a collaborative team of faculty and staff, and engage in a variety of experiential learning opportunities on the shores of coastal Maine.

医学生物学生活学习社区

合格的专业: Any 文理学院 major intending to pursue graduate health education

The Medical Biology LLC is an opportunity for students that plan to pursue graduate education in medicine, 兽医, 牙科, 验光, 等. This community is distinct from the 卫生专业团体 and is intended for pre-health students enrolled in majors within the 文理学院 (CAS). In addition to taking at least two common courses over the year you will be able to explore your intended field of study, 联系学生支持服务, and receive opportunities to engage in experiential learning with your classmates. 

These communities are open to students in any major.

薰衣草社区

The 薰衣草社区 is for students who identify as LGBTQIA+ or as allies of the community. Residents will have the opportunity to develop, 福斯特, 探索身份, 与校园和当地资源建立联系, and participate in specialized programming provided by UNE supports. This is first and foremost a space for LGBTQIA+ identified individuals to feel safe and thrive.
